How To: Dress Chic in Winter

When the temperature drops and the layers pile on, we often fall into a style rut, just to stay warm. My west coast fam doesn’t have to take it to the next level with a down jacket, but their timid winters result in a lot of sweaters and jeans. While I am all for a good knit sweater and some high-waisted denim, I like to dress up for date night or a girls night out.

Depending on where you live, you may don your warmest coat as your final layer, but underneath you can still dress to impress. I usually go for a long wool coat and a faux fur scarf. My go-to is a turtleneck with a fashionable bottom. For this particular look, I picked a gingham skirt with a cute flair detail. To keep my legs warm, I pulled out my trusty over the knee boots to hug my legs and trap in heat. Grab your favorite evening bag, statement earrings, let your hair down and you’re ready to go. Oh, and a red lip never fails, regardless of what’s happening outside.

Granted this look may not quite work for snowy days or -30 degree weather. But if you want to be daring, you can always add tights, an overcoat, like a blazer or lighter jacket, thicker socks and your heaviest winter coat. Just don’t forget to spray a waterproofing protectant on your boots before heading out.

There you have it! One quick and easy way to dress chic in winter. Check out my final look and get in on the action by shopping these fail-proof winter looks.
