A Backpack Love Affair

IMG_1032There are days when carrying a tote bag becomes a nuisance for me, especially on the crowded streets of NYC where people are constantly bumping into one another and knocking bags. And as stashing everything in my pockets isn’t the most practical of options, I have welcomed back backpacks with open arms.

A great backpack has enough room to store my all daily essentials, allows me to walk around the city with ease, and to top it alloff–stylishly ties my outfit together. While I have been on the lookout for the perfect backpack, my roommate has been kind enough to let me borrow hers that she’s had since the 8th grade. Isn’t it great how the 90s are making a comeback? If only I had kept my backpack from those days. Oh well, guess I have an excuse to invest in another! (If you’re on the lookout for a backpack too, I’ll be sharing my top picks soon).

The other day, I had a full lineup of errands to run and was able to throw everything I needed into my backpack. Unlike with my tote bag, I didn’t have to awkwardly clutch my bag to avoid bumping into people, nor did I have to keep switching it from one arm to the other to alleviate my shoulders. Instead, I strolled comfortably and accumulated several compliments along the way!

As my love affair with backpacks grows, my look had to transition from day-to-night since I didn’t stop home before dinner. My rule of thumb is dressing for comfort when I know I’ll be out and about all day. I opted for a pair of stretch black denim, a fall hue top for a pop of color, my go-to leather jacket, and boots. To transition my look for the evening, I added winged eyeliner, sultry lipstick, and let my hair down. Get the look below!
